Server Virtualisation

Virtualisation lets you transform hardware into software. Use software such as VMware ESX or Microsoft® Hyper-V to transform or "virtualise" the hardware resources of an x86-based computer—including the CPU, RAM, hard disk and network controller—to create a fully functional virtual machine that can run its own operating system and applications just like a "real" computer. Multiple virtual machines share hardware resources without interfering with each other so that you can safely run several operating systems and applications at the same time on a single computer.

VMware ESX

Create the foundation for building a dynamic, self-optimizing data centre with VMware ESX Server. ESX Server abstracts processor, memory, storage and networking resources into multiple virtual machines, giving you greater hardware utilization and flexibility. Production-proven at thousands of customers of all sizes, ESX Server delivers the highest levels of performance, scalability and flexibility.

Microsoft® Hyper-V

Microsoft® Hyper-V™ Server 2008 R2 is a stand-alone product that provides a reliable and optimized virtualization solution enabling organizations to improve server utilization and reduce costs. Since Hyper-V Server is a dedicated stand-alone product, which contains only the Windows Hypervisor, Windows Server driver model and virtualization components, it provides a small footprint and minimal overhead. It easily plugs into customers’ existing IT environments, leveraging their existing patching, provisioning, management, support tools, processes, and skills. Some of the new key new features that are available in Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 are live migration, cluster shared volume support and expanded processor and memory support for host systems.

As a VMWare Enterprise Partner and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, UST can help you choose, design, implement and support a Virtualisation solution that meets your business requirements so that your organisation can save time, money and energy while achieving more with the computer hardware you already own.
